Asymmetry
There's this thing that I ask everyone to do: run your hands down your body. Nine times out of ten the person will put both their hands on top of their head and move them down the sides of their face and body at the same time. From a visual perspective it looks more catching if your hands are doing different things. So when I ask folks to do this while posing I explicitly tell them where to put their hands and that I know that I sound condescending but almost everyone does it. They look at me like I'm an idiot and then when I say, "Okay, now run your hands along your body", they do just what I told them NOT to do. It's like the funniest thing ever.
This is exactly what happened with Stefan. He totally gave me the "why are you talking to me like a child? I am hearing what you're saying and I'm going to do exactly the correct thing" look. I said, "Okay, go..." and both his hands went directly to the top of his head and simultaneously moved their way down his body. I laughed out loud and said, "You're doing it!" and he paused, realized what was happening, and erupted in laughter. We all had a really good full body laugh at that. It was epic.
What were you most nervous about heading into your session?
Taking my clothes off in front of strangers, especially with the weight I've gained recently, is definitely a hurdle that I struggle with. I've had body image issues since I was young, and modeling has been a great way for me to get over that.
How did your session compare to how you thought it would be?
It was fun! I really enjoyed meeting you and Sarah and was elated to share new music!
What was your favorite part of your experience?
When I *immediately* clapped both hands on the side of my head, which you explained at length that everyone does and should not do! I'm still laughing about it.
How do you feel now that you've experienced the session?
Pretty great. This definitely helped me feel better about myself.
Would you recommend an Intimate Portraiture Session with Erica Chick to others?
Absolutely!
Would you ever do an Intimate Portraiture Session again?
Also absolutely!
What was your absolute most favorite photo from your session and how does it make you feel?
The last of my favorites. It focuses on my belly, which I have the most issues with, and really shows it off rather than hides or distracts from it.
Do you have anything else that you'd like me know?
You're great! Thank you for having me!!
